Builders on Bikes

Builders On Bikes or B.O.B for short, are a London base charity, who through cycling are raising awareness of Mental Health within the construction industry.

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service is an independent lifeboat and inshorerescue service that was founded in 1969. As a declared facility to the UK Coastguard, they provide emergency lifeboat cover to the Eastern Solent and Portsmouth Harbour.

Huntington’s disease

Huntington’s disease is an illness caused by a faulty gene in your DNA - the biological ‘instructions’ you inherit which tell your cells what to do.

Builders on Bikes

Mental health in the construction industry is seriously overlooked as the industry has always come with the brave, macho stereotype, which has made talking about issues, very difficult. By bringing people together from all walks of life, they hope cycling can build relationships and make talking to others easier for those struggling.

B.O.B are a British Cycling registered club.

They want to do everything possible to break this stereotype, and would like people to feel comfortable talking about issues affecting them. Construction workers need somewhere to go, and someone to speak to….

A chat can make a world of difference.

They are currently working alongside Mates in Mind to help break this taboo by raising much needed sponsorship funds so they can continue to support the industry.

Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service

Their crews live normal lives just like you and I. However, when the Coastguard activate those of them on pager call out, they drop everything at a moment’s notice and respond to people in distress; 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and in all weathers.

On average they respond to 100 incidents per year. These vary from towing stricken vessels away from danger, all the way to providing life saving first aid to critically injured casualties. Time and time again their teams have been awarded national commendations for their life saving services to the community. Their members commit hundreds of hours each per year in order to maintain this vital public service.
